Calvin Klein Retools Website, Adds E-Commerce

Calvin Klein has begun selling its better lines on the Web, with a revamped website that showcases both apparel and home goods. The site, at www.calvinklein.com, reflects the selections available at Calvin Klein’s better stores, and fulfillment will be provided by company stores.

The move is aimed at boosting the brand’s distribution amid a tough retail cycle. Although Calvin Klein has come late to the e-commerce game, it hopes to spur interest through a sweepstake that offers the winner a $1000 shopping spree.

July Wholesale Prices Soar 1.2 Percent

Wholesale prices jumped 1.2 % in July, marking the largest annual increase in 27 years, according to Labor Department statistics.

The jump was pinned on climbing inflation rates, leading analysts to speculate on whether the Fed would step in and raise interest rates in the hopes of curbing inflation.

Business owners are in the difficult position of deciding whether to increase consumer prices to make up for wholesale increases, or just eat the costs. Consumer spending is already down and higher prices could worsen the situation.
